The Journey Begins
As long as I can remember, I have always had an immense love for my dogs. They are so much more than just pets, they are members of my family. Over the years, it's always a dream for me to travel with them, on an adventure with the dogs in the car, exploring new places, learning about different cultures, all the while me and my dogs and would take the most time together.
When the dream finally became a reality, I was a bit apprehensive. After all, traveling with dogs, they are not the same thing as you travel on your own. They call for special attention, sustained attention, and, especially, security. However, something told me that this would be an amazing experience, both for me and for my dog.
Table of Contents
The initial idea was to go through some of the towns and cities of Brazil, to visit the places that you had never seen before, and spend quality time with them, but I don't know what an adventure it would be so much more than just a road trip. It would be my understanding of the travel, the company of my dogs, and, most importantly, about what it means to be a traveller, be responsible” when you have pets.
During the trip, I began to realize how much the experience of traveling with my dogs I had something of a magician. They bring joy into each and every stop, laugh at the unexpected, and of course, many of the lessons learned. Now, I want to share everything I've learned with you so that if you have the desire to travel with your dog, you know what to expect and how to prepare them.
The First Major Decision For You to Travel in the Car with My Dog?
I have always loved to travel. But to travel with my dog? It requires a level of commitment, and the organization that I had never considered before. Initially, what drew me in to the idea of the the adventure with the dog of a car it was the freedom that a car gives. On the contrary, of the travel of the plane, on the bus or in the car and gives you full flexibility. You can stop anywhere you like, take frequent breaks so that your dog relax, and don't need to worry about hard and fast rules regarding the transportation of animals, as is the case with other means of transportation.
The other crucial thing to my mind was the well being of my dogs. They are used to travelling in the car, but it's never for long distances. As to how they would behave during the course of a day that could go on for days or even weeks ago? I thought it would be a challenge, but I also knew that I was willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure that they feel comfortable and happy.
In addition to this, there is the question of the connection with nature, and the unique experience of getting to know new places. How they, too, have the power to explore and be amazed by everything around him, I thought that the trip would be a great way to strengthen our bond. Don't just go from a point a To a point B, but also to live new experiences and time together.
Before going further, I began to do some research on an adventure with a dog in the car, and as soon as I realized that, even though it's a wonderful adventure, it also requires a preparation for, and adaptation. I want to ensure you that your experience was a positive for me as it is for the dog.
Preparing for a Trip That you Cannot Miss

Now that the decision was made, the next step is to start the planning. I knew that any failure to plan may result in a trip, and it was the worst of it all, to the well-being of my dogs. Therefore, I have spent a considerable amount of time to make sure that everything is in order.
Documentation for the Dog
Before leaving, I went to the vet to make sure that the health of my dogs and it was on the day. In addition to the shots, I saw also that they had a micro-chip, which were to be protected against pests, since they were going to go through the various regions of different climates and environments and so much more.
In addition to this, I made it a point to bring all of the documents you are required to travel interstate, such as a Certificate of the Health of the Animal (bzi what) and the delivery note. Some states have specific requirements, so it's important to check the rules for each and every place of where to spend.
Accommodation With Pet-Friendly
I have found several sites that list the accommodations, pet-friendly interface, which greatly facilitated the choice of the places where they couldn't stop. However, the one thing that I learned early on is that not all of the institutions which claim to be pet-friendly place to really offer you what's best for the animals. Some did not have the proper areas to ride, or not at all accept the big dogs, so I had to be more careful when you make your booking.
I also got in touch with some of the hotels and ask about the infrastructure of the dog, ensuring that we have the beds, the water, and, if possible, to outdoor, to which the dogs could run around and have fun. Many hotels offer special packages for pets-with amenities such as beds, food and children's toys. However, I also had to search for options that would provide it in a timely manner.
Travel Kit
Each one of my dogs had their own suitcase. This “bag” and included, among other things, the daily ration for them, and that would be enough for the entire trip, because, in some countries, it might be hard to find a food that is specific to them. We've also included cans collapsible food and water, litter, extra, and, of course, a given, and toys to keep them busy during long journeys.
I was not worried about taking whatever action is necessary to ensure the comfort of their car. On the tv, for example, it helped a lot, because it kept all the dogs are comfortable in the uk and the rest.
Both the script and the Security in the Car
I made sure to plan a route that would not be too tired to care. Of course, he could not help but explore the major sights, but I also wanted to make sure that the route is suitable for the needs of the animals. Rather than taking the long route, non-stop, I decided to split the trip into smaller clips, most times of rest and entertainment.
As for the security in the car, and I bought the seat belts that are specific to dogs, and it helps to keep your pets protected and to minimize the risk of an accident during the trip. Safety in the car is something that can't be overlooked, because of the hustle and bustle and movement of the vehicle and may adversely affect the stability of the dogs. In addition to this, the frequent stops to stretch and hydration was essential in order to ensure that they would not be so uncomfortable.
On the Road, As My Dogs can be Adapted to the Car?
The adaptation of one of my dogs in the car, it was one of the biggest challenges of the day. Although they have been used for short trips, we have never done such a journey, so far. For this reason, before you embark on your journey, we've made a number of short walks to get them used to the vehicle.
Some of the dogs, if you feel unsafe, or even nauseados when you are traveling long distances. For me, it's one of my dogs that already have a history of stomach problems, it is not adapted to it easily in the car, and got a little sick in the first few days. For this reason, I went to the vet, who spoke to us about a specific remedy for the sickness of the trip. The drug was effective, and he soon got used to it.

In addition to this, the temperature in the car, it was a very important factor. During the summer, and the heat may be the enemy, for both the dog and the owner. We use fans, and portable, and has always kept the air-conditioning system is switched on to ensure the comfort of them. These small steps have made all the difference.
The one That got it Right: the Moments of Connection and Joy

In spite of all the challenges that have emerged in the times when the travel was okay they were the ones who really shaped the experience. As I've mentioned before, traveling with their dogs to have provided a sense of connection between us. As we advanced on the streets of Brazil, and each stop was an opportunity to learn something new, either about those places as much as for my own dogs.
To discover the World Together
There's something special about watching my dogs, exploring different moods. In every city, in every park, or the plaza, the curiosity was evident. When we got to new places with the dogs, they were elated by the scent of the new land, and the chance to run around in unfamiliar places. In one of the parks that we have visited to, for example, one of my dogs, he was so excited about the smell of the grass fresh, and the trees that ran non-stop, doing the circles of happiness. This type of reaction is priceless.
You see, the dogs are just as happy exploring new places has been a daily reminder of how you travel, are presented. I do that before I traveled alone, he now understood the value of their company. They have taught me to cherish the little moments and the enjoyment of the pleasure of being in the present.
The Experience of walking Tours
One of the first things we did was to explore some of the beaches, and hiking trails, which have become a playground for the dogs. On these tracks, you walked through a small forest, one of my dogs, he was so happy, running through the leaves that seemed to never want to go back. He was so involved in the operation that not even realize the time passing by. We, as humans, we sometimes forget to enjoy the simple pleasure of being in contact with nature, but it's the dogs that remind us of it at every step.
These tours are also brought us together even more. I can see how they will react to every change in the environment, and as such, many of the times, and were in need of my support so they feel more safe and secure. Even in settings where an e-mail address, your looks and gestures, to me, asked for comfort, and peace of mind. And then, when you look at it, I find myself understanding what it means to be a guide for all my fellow furry.
What went Wrong: the Challenges on the Way
Of course, it's not all been a bed of roses. Don't be an adventure if there were no obstacles in the way. As with any journey, there appeared the unforeseen circumstances that have taught me some valuable lessons. I can't deny that there were moments of frustration, but they all brought lessons that prepared me better for what was to come.
Room Temperature and Climate
Brazil is a huge country and each region has a different climate. A few days have been extremely hot, especially in the interior of the country, and they forced me to be even more careful in the comfort of your dog. In the intense heat of the hydration was key. In addition to ensuring that they were always fresh, and I went frequently to see if they were offering light snacks, refreshing, and keeping the windows open for air flow.
In some areas, the heat was almost unbearable, and I had to adjust my script to avoid the hottest hours of the day. I have learned to be more flexible in regards to time travel, giving priority to the well-being of the dogs, instead of following the original plan for the book. It was better to travel at night or early in the morning, when the heat was not so intense, and the stakes for the rest, however, were more frequent.
Nausea and upset Stomach
One of my dogs, as I have already mentioned above, it has a tendency to get sick on long journeys. At first, I thought that I would be able to deal with it, but I quickly realized that the situation called for more attention. The sickness had occurred, especially on longer trips, and, in some instances, this has led to stress as much for me as for him.
Fortunately, with the help of a veterinarian, I was able to find a solution to relieve the symptoms. With the introduction of the power to the lighter, in addition to the use of medications for the sick, it made a big difference. Over time, he got used to it more and more with the routine of traveling, and the nausea subsided.
Facilities and Logistics: it's Not All about the Flowers
One of the great lessons of this journey was to find that not all of the accommodations that claim to be “pet-friendly” are they really prepared to take the animals. You know, I got a little frustrated in the beginning, now that I've found a few places that had a policy seemingly for good, but in practice, it did not have adequate infrastructure.
For example, in a coastal city, I booked a hotel that is said to be pet-friendly, but, when I arrived home, I noticed that the outside was not safe for the dog, and the internal environment is filled with objects that could be harmful to them. I had to run away and find a new place, which caused a huge delay in my script.
These trials and tribulations, while stressful, has taught me to be more careful at the time of booking. Now, every time I come in contact with any of the facilities before confirming a reservation, and I made sure to all the places that offer what they promise.
How to plan a trip in the Future and with the Dogs

Now that you have the experience of travelling through Brazil, with one of my dogs is a little bit further back from me, I would like to share some tips that we are sure will make your future trips so much more enjoyable. If you are planning a road trip with your dog, it's worth considering the following points.
Planning the route
To plan an itinerary that will fit the needs of your dog is an essential. I've learned how to not make a plan to ride inflexible. Flexibility is the key. Instead of trying to go through a number of states in a few days, I've decided to make the route shorter and more time to spend at each location. This has resulted in a slower and more peaceful, and help the dog adjust to the new environment.
When you are planning your trip, I made sure to include plenty of stops along the way. In the cities, towns, or villages, I looked to the parks and green areas, where we could walk the dogs could all relax and unwind. This approach not only made the dog feel more at ease, but it also gave me the chance to explore a little more slowly in the places where we lived.
Prepare for Emergencies
Although it's nothing serious has happened to you during the journey, it's always good to be prepared for the unexpected. This includes getting to know all the animal hospitals throughout the course, you have the emergency contact information on hand and you take it with a kit, basic first aid kit for pets.
In addition to that, every time you go out for longer rides, I have brought with me a copy of the documents to the health of the dogs, including vaccinations and medical history. This is important, because it may be required in some countries and / or during the shipping.
The equipment for the Trip
Invest in high quality equipment for both the dogs and have also made all of the difference. The seat belt was one of the purchases, no doubt, because it allowed the dog to stay secured in the back seat for the ride. In addition to this, we bought boxes of transportation when we needed to leave the dog in a place while we were doing some of the activities which would not be permitted to animals.
The other item of concern has been the purchase of bottles of water and portable cans folding. Having these tools at hand, it ensured that you will never lack of hydration when on a journey, and that it was essential, especially on hot days.
An Adventure that is Worth it
Now, as I reflect on this great adventure, I can see how it was important for me to allow you to live the experience of traveling with my dog. Not only were my fellow believers all the way, but they also have taught me a lot about what it means to take care of, to be present and enjoy the moment.
